New Housing Development Proposed For York

The next few months could be a busy time for scaffolders in York if a new housing development for the village of Brafferton is given the go ahead.

Easingwold-developers Caedmon Homes has joined forces with Evans Property Group to submit an application to Hambleton District Council for 28 houses.

Director of Caedmon Homes Paul Brown was reported by The Yorkshire Post as saying: “This is a very exciting development, which will add to the excellent reputation of Brafferton as one of the most sought-after villages in the York and Easingwold areas.”

The site has already been granted outline planning consent; however, Hambleton Council needs to approve specific building designs and layout.

Mr Brown added half the homes will be affordable for key workers, and will include one and two-bed apartments and three-bed houses. The other 14 will be four and five-bed properties.

He hopes work on the site will begin this summer, with the developer intending for the first houses to become available next spring. The entire site should be completed in late summer 2021.

Caedmon has reason to be confident the houses will sell quickly, as it reported that nearly a third of its new residential development St John’s Mews, located in York, had already been sold by February.

Nine of the 29 apartments in total had been sold ‘off plan’ before they were complete, and the first residents have now moved in after a quick sale.
