Planning Application For New Hull Hotel Submitted

A site opposite the Hull Paragon Interchange and train station could be set for an overhaul if Hull City Council approves the plans recently submitted by DLP Planning.

Insider Media revealed that the firm has recently submitted an application for planning permission to build a new 110-bedroom hotel on the vacant site. In addition, the development will include a bar and restaurant, as well as 27 car parking spaces.

The site on Anlaby Road used to have a hotel on it, but this was demolished after falling into disrepair and being further damaged by fire.

A statement submitted as part of the planning application comments: “The proposed development seeks to contribute a positive built edge to both Midland Street and Anlaby Road which will improve the character and quality of the area.”

The news provider noted that plans for a 124-bedroom hotel were approved back in 2008, but planning permission for this scheme has since lapsed. In 2017, an application to construct five apartments as well as a 106-bedroom hotel, retail unit and bar/restaurant was turned down due to worries over the proposed scale and the design.

The Hull Daily Mail recently reported on another hospitality venue in the area that has plans for a construction project. Popular woodland wedding venue Oaklands intends to replace its tipis with a timber-clad lodge.

In doing so, the venue will be able to host weddings all year round, not just in the warmer and drier months of the year.
